Joan had a generous heart and extended generous financial contributions to improve the Jewish community. She served on the boards of the Jewish Federation, Jewish Family and Children Services and Jewish National Fund. Joan was a warm and caring woman who not only gave generously to her family, but to numerous causes. Most of all she was a loving mother, and grandmother who is survived by Sheldon Roth, her brother Robert Smelkinson, her sons Joseph, Robert and Jonathan, daughters-in-law Anita, Susie and Lori, and grandchildren Samantha-Jo, Courtney, Spencer, Allison, Megan, Harrison, Jessica, Benjamin and Joelle Roth.
