Police identify man shot to death at a condominium building in Columbia

Howard County police released the name of a man found shot to death Friday on a stairway in a Columbia condominium building, but said no arrest had been made and the motive was unknown.

The victim was Edwin Aytes, 49, a resident of the Shadow Oak Condominiums building in the 9600 block of White Acre Road in the Village of Oakland Mills. Police said his body was found on the stairway leading to below-ground apartments.

County officers were sent about 7:30 p.m. to investigate a report that shots had been fired in the building.
