Rev. Raymond Woodka, 68, served three city parishes

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Rev. Raymond A. Woodka, a Josephite priest who served three Baltimore parishes, died Sept. 22 of heart failure at his order's headquarters in the Mount Vernon section of Baltimore. He was 68.

The Roman Catholic priest celebrated Mass and heard confessions at St. Peter Claver and St. Pius V, both in West Baltimore, and at the Shrine of St. Alphonsus downtown. In addition to these duties, he served in the Josephite treasurer's office on North Calvert Street.

Born in Norwich, Conn., he was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and Epiphany Apostolic College in Newburgh, N.Y. He was ordained a priest at Washington's National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in 1966.

A Mass of Christian burial was offered yesterday at St. Peter Claver Church.

Father Woodka is survived by a brother, Henry Woodka of Preston, Conn.; and four sisters, Pauline Johnson and Sophie Woodka, both of Norwich, Edna Gilchrist of Springfield, Mass., and Mary Slowick of North Franklin, Conn.
