Blue Jays update

Toronto has been downright rude to the Orioles at SkyDome, winning 25 of the past 33 games. Then again, the Blue Jays don't care much about the location. They've won 22 of the past 28 games against the Orioles overall. They're awfully young, with 15 rookies on the expanded roster, but there's a lot of talent. Third baseman Eric Hinske might be the favorite to win the AL Rookie of the Year award. Josh Phelps might have gotten it if the Blue Jays had called him up sooner. Another rookie, second baseman Orlando Hudson, raised his average to .305 after going 4-for-6 with five RBIs in Sunday's 12-6 win over Tampa Bay. Former Orioles first-round draft pick Jayson Werth has knocked in six runs since joining Toronto earlier this month. Vernon Wells, 23, needs five more RBIs to become the youngest Blue Jay to reach 100. Closer Kelvim Escobar has converted 15 of his past 17 save opportunities. If the Orioles have any hope of finishing in third place, they'll need to sweep this series. (Blue Jays statistics, 6D)
