A 2-month-old girl remained in critical condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins Hospital after suffering injuries that Anne Arundel County police said might have been caused by a beating.

The infant, Jennifer Nicole Vail, was found unconscious Saturday at a Brooklyn Park apartment in the 200 block of 4th Ave. by county police and paramedics responding to a call reporting an injured child.

Sgt. William Krampf, a police spokesman, said she was taken to Harbor Hospital, then transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit at Hopkins.

Krampf said the county police homicide squad is investigating the incident.
