Araujo, Max Theodoro Amorim De

MAX THEODORO AMORIM DE ARAUJO, Renaissance man, self-published author, crocodile hunter, painter, photographer, draftsman, musician, husband and father passed away September 13, 2002 at the age of 77 in New Port Richey, Florida from complications of pneumonia. Mr. Araujo was born in Monte Alegre, Brazil about 400 miles up from the mouth of the Amazon River. He was orphaned at the age of six and was then raised by his grandfather and aunt. He started working at the age of 12 He came to the United States when he was 23. He met his wife Dee, in 1954 on a trip back to Brazil and they married in 1957 in Baltimore. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in Brazil this June. He made his living in many ways; babysitter, handyman, cook, window dresser for Gaxtons department store were some of the jobs he held while earning a degree at Maryland Institute College of Art. His mentor and life long friend was the late portrait artist, Wilson Binebrink. He was very proud of earning a Peabody Prize while at the school. He was also proud of being honored as a lifetime member of the Baltimore Camera Club. Other honorees are Aubrey A. Bodine and Edward L. Bafford. He was a draftsman at Whitman Requardt and Assoc. and Jones and Assoc., but black and white photography was his passion and his profession for 25 years. His freelancing work was greatly used by the Rouse Company during the early development of the planned city of Columbia, Maryland. In 1982 he joined the City of Baltimore, Dept. of Public Works and retired as an Engineering Associate. He is survived by his wife, daughter Nancy Schmidbauer of Joppa, MD.; son Ronald Araujo of Baltimore; son-in-law Edward Schmidbauer, Jr and granddaughter, Genny Schnitzer. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 7 P.M. at St. Elizabeths Church located in Patterson Park at the corner of Baltimore and N. Lakewood. Walker, Janet Franklin Stockbridge

JANET FRANKLIN STOCKBRIDGE WALKER, died peacefully at home in Friendship, Maine, on Tuesday, September 17, 2002. She was born in Baltimore, MD on June 23, 1917, the daughter of Enos and Clara Stockbridge. She was a graduate of Smith College and The Yale University School of Nursing. Janet married Douglass W. Walker, M.D. on March 21, 1942. She was a highly supportive first mate to Doug. While raising their family of three daughters, she was an active leader and participant in many worthwhile community endeavors. She is survived by her three daughters: Barbara Collamore and her partner Judith Soule of Freeport, Maine; Elizabeth White and her husband Stephen of San Antonio, Texas; and Ann Higgins and her husband Liston of Bar Harbor, Maine. Also surviving her are two grandsons; Matthew White and his wife Nicole of Dallas, Texas and Captain Stephen Sumner, currently on duty in Afghanistan; and three great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Meagan White of Dallas and Brianne Sumner of Lamoine, Maine. Janet was predeceased by her husband Douglass Walker and her grandson, Douglass White. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, September 22, 2002, at the Friendship United Methodist Church in Friendship, Maine.
