World-class equestrians and Olympic veterans will compete on a challenging timed course for $35,000 in prize money at the 15th annual Columbia Classic Grand Prix tomorrow on the Howard Community College campus.
The show-jumping competition will raise money for scholarships. Actress Jane Seymour will be grand marshal.
Events are planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Grand Prix is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, a competition for nonprofessional riders for $10,000 in prizes, will be at noon.
The day's events will include a parade of riders, a pack of Goshen hounds directed by a rider, Jack Russell terrier races, pony rides, a "World of the Horse" exhibit, a food court and boutiques. An awards presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Lawn seating is $5 for adults; children 13 and younger get in free. Grandstand seating is $10 for adults and $5 for children. A tailgate package costs $100. Raffle tickets, of which 1,000 will be sold, are $100 each. Prizes include a 2003 Mercedes-Benz.
