Boston has fallen from playoff contention, and tension is building in the clubhouse. In other words, it's business as usual in New England. Not long after Manny Ramirez angered club officials by failing to run out a ground ball, shortstop Nomar Garciaparra vented after being picked off second base in Friday's game against the Orioles. The Red Sox have been a better road team this season, going 46-28 away from home, and Garciaparra made some sarcastic remarks about the "positive vibes" in Boston. A back page article in Wednesday's Boston Herald dared Garciaparra to leave if he wasn't happy. The All-Star shortstop said he wants to stay. Ramirez, who has stopped talking to the media, is challenging for the batting title in the American League. His .343 average leads Kansas City's Mike Sweeney by one point. The Red Sox are 9-6 against the Orioles this season, though they lost two of three at Fenway Park last weekend.
