Police arrest 1, seek another in killing of Baltimore man

One man has been arrested and another is being sought in the fatal shooting Tuesday of a 23-year-old man who interrupted a burglary at his twin sister's West Baltimore apartment, police said.

Alex Troy Scott of the 400 block of Cummings Court in McCulloh Homes was knocking on the front door of sister Alecia Scott's apartment in the 1600 block of Balmor Court about 4:40 p.m. when a man began talking to him, said Detective Dennis Raftery.

Seconds later, a gunman who had broken into the apartment through a rear window opened the front door and, with the aid of the other man, shoved Scott inside. During a struggle, he was shot several times.

Police officers heard the gunshots and arrived in time to arrest a man who had been outside the apartment, but the gunman escaped, Raftery said.

Scott died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Police said Shelton McCain, 25, of the 3800 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. was charged with first-degree murder. McCain was being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center, pending a bail review hearing.

In two other homicides Tuesday, police said they had not identified the male victims -- one shot in the 3700 block of Elkader Road in Waverly, and the other shot in the 3500 block of Fourth St. in Brooklyn.

No arrest had been made in either case.
