Riva Area Park opened by county on 68.8-acre site

THE BALTIMORE SUN

County officials opened the new Riva Area Park at a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday.

The 68.8-acre property, on Riva Road near Central Avenue and the community of Summer Hill Farm, was acquired by the county in 1997 for $650,000. State grant money was used to pay for the land.

The county then spent $3.2 million in local capital improvement funds to construct three multipurpose fields, three ball fields, two basketball courts, a playground and rest rooms. For more information, call 410-222- 7315.
