The past two seasons, Dulaney's football team had given perennial Baltimore County power Randallstown all it could handle but came up short.
Two years ago, the Lions lost, 7-3, and last fall, they fell, 12-6, in overtime.
The third time was the charm, however, as the Lions upended the visiting eighth-ranked Rams, 15-14, in county 4A-3A league action on Saturday.
The loss ended Randallstown's nine-game winning streak against county 4A-3A rivals and helped Dulaney rebound from a 20-19 season-opening loss to Towson.
"Our kids really took the loss to Towson hard, and they came out very focused for Randallstown," said fourth-year Dulaney coach Steve Watts. "Our kids were ready to play Randallstown, which, for some reason, we play really well against."
The Lions (1-1, 1-0) led 7-0 after Erick Sogcfack's 2-yard run finished off a nine-play, 73-yard drive. The game-winning drive covered 84 yards in 12 plays, ending with Lamar Kiah's 1-yard run and a two-point conversion pass from Paul Dabrowski to Steve Turner with seven minutes to play.
Dulaney required a defensive stand to pull out the victory.
And Eric Guyton delivered.
Guyton's third interception, each of which was within the Dulaney 5-yard line, stopped Randallstown (1-1, 0-1) with 20 seconds to play.
Davis dominates
Pat Davis caught an 11-yard touchdown pass during a 21-point fourth quarter and kicked a game-winning 27-yard field goal in overtime as Centennial beat Hammond, 24-21, in Howard County play.
A real kick
Listed at 6 feet, 137 pounds, Francis Scott Key's thin man packs a wallop as a place-kicker.
Jim Milesky has yet to miss an extra point and has made a 39-yard field goal. In Friday night's 41-20 rout of defending Monocacy Valley Athletic League champion Middletown, all but one of Milesky's seven kickoffs were caught inside the 20-yard line on the right side of the field.
