No. 3 Calvert Hall and No. 7 South River battled to a 1-1 tie in double overtime at the Severna Park boys soccer tournament last night.
The 100-minute marathon was further prolonged 20 minutes due to South River's Paul Yarnell being taken away by ambulance with a possible broken leg with 2:40 left in the first overtime.
The Seahawks nearly pulled the upset after taking a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute of regulation on Chris Gentry's goal from Matt Sol.
Calvert Hall avoided the upset thanks to junior Ryan Callinan's unassisted goal into a vacant net seven minutes later.
No. 5 Severna Park played Archbishop Spalding in the late game.
