Police seek suspect in assaults on girls
The Baltimore Police Department's Child Abuse Unit is searching for a man suspected in a string of sexual assaults on school-age girls this summer in Southwest Baltimore. The first incident occurred in July; the most recent attack happened Wednesday morning.
The victims, ages 11, 12 and 13, were fondled as they walked to or from school. The 11-year-old, who was assaulted Wednesday in the 200 block of Boswell Road, told police the man tried to force her into a wooded area but that she escaped.

Woman sentenced for arson fire at hotel
A woman was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison for first-degree arson in connection with a fire at the Abbey Schaefer Hotel in August last year, the Baltimore state's attorney's office announced.
Patricia Fairley, 39, of no fixed address pleaded guilty last month to setting the fire at the hotel in the 700 block of St. Paul St. in Mount Vernon. The blaze caused more than $40,000 worth of damage, prosecutors said. The hotel has not reopened.
The fire left 22 people homeless, and severely injured one person, according to the state's attorney's office.
City man, 22, indicted in fatal shooting in May
A 22-year-old Baltimore man was indicted Thursday by a Baltimore grand jury on first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in May.
Noble Johnson, whose address was unavailable, was indicted in the death of Darryl Lamont Powell of the 800 block of McCabe Ave., was shot in the head at the Corner Carryout in the 5400 block of York Road on May 23.
