Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five

James A. Biddison Jr., 83, general counsel for BGE

James A. Biddison Jr., retired general counsel for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., died Sunday of heart failure at Union Memorial Hospital. The Cockeysville resident was 83.

Mr. Biddison retired in 1985 after 35 years as a lawyer for BGE,

Born in Baltimore and raised on Presstman Street, he was a 1936 graduate of City College. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's in law from the University of Baltimore.

A member of the Maryland Bar Association and the Wednesday Law Club, he was a former president of Broadmead Residents Association in Cockeysville, where he moved about 15 years ago from Catonsville.

He headed the legislative committee of the Maryland Association of Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

Mr. Biddison's wife of 55 years, Ethel Wennagel, died in 1998.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, 6500 York Road, Rodgers Forge.

He is survived by a son, Dr. James H. Biddison of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.
