Wilmington revitalization includes residential plans
In Wilmington, Del., a private partnership is making progress in revitalizing a section of the city's downtown as a commercial, cultural and residential center.
The Buccini/Pollin Group, a Delaware-based developer, and Kling, an architectural firm with headquarters in Philadelphia, have tackled Wilmington's Brandywine, Delaware Trust and Nemours buildings and their adjacent spaces.
In June, the Buccini/Pollin Group acquired the 22-story Delaware Trust Building, which is to be converted to upscale apartments that will be available for occupancy in September 2003. The 11-story Nemours Building is being converted to corporate and residential spaces.
The public plaza between the buildings is being redesigned to resemble a European town square.
On the move
Rachele Dannenberg-Freeman
