Southern District
Shooting: A 20-year-old man was walking down an alley in the 800 block of Jeffrey St. about 7 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot in the lower back by an unknown assailant. He was treated at Harbor Hospital Center.
Southwestern District
Officer assaulted: Police were seeking a couple who allegedly assaulted an off-duty district officer and threatened his family Wednesday as he dropped off his daughter at a school in the 200 block of North Bend Road. Officer James Cardella, 26, was in civilian clothing and about to drive off when he was confronted by the pair, who he said knew he is an officer and threatened to kill him, his daughter and wife. During a verbal exchange, Cardella was struck and shoved by the woman before the pair sped away in a tan Buick.
Western District
Robbery: A gunman robbed Princess Shop at Mondawmin Mall of an undisclosed sum of money about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Baltimore County
Woodlawn Precinct
Charges dropped: Rape charges against two Woodstock Job Corps students were dropped yesterday. Authorities said a 19-year-old woman who alleged she had been raped on school grounds Monday subsequently changed her account, and did not want to pursue prosecution of charges.
Towson Precinct
Robbery: A taxi driver was robbed of $180 at Hillen Road near the city-county line about 7 a.m. Wednesday by a male passenger armed with a knife.
Garrison Precinct
Robbery: A woman, 74, was walking in the 9900 block of Liberty Road about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when she was pushed aside by a man who stole her purse.
