A compassionate tale

The world that children's author Katherine Paterson creates is one of secret kingdoms, knights in shining armor and exotic, far-off lands.

Tomorrow, the award-winning author of books including Bridge to Terabithia and Jacob I Have Loved brings her latest tale -The Same Stuff as Stars - to the Children's Bookstore in Roland Park.

The bookstore welcomes kids of all ages to hear Paterson read excerpts from The Same Stuff as Stars. The beautifully written tale centers on 12-year-old Angel, who is forced to grow up quickly because of unfortunate family circumstances. Angel not only acts as a parent to her younger brother, she herself must also deal with changing schools frequently.

It's a compassionate tale and one that teaches kids that they can rise above their circumstances.

After reading from her book, Paterson will sign copies of it. The reading takes place at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Children's Bookstore, 737 Deepdene Road. Call 410-532-2000 for more information.
