Kaestner qualifies for Mid-Amateur

SILVER SPRING - Bob Kaestner, from Glyndon and Baltimore Country Club, produced an eagle-2 on the third playoff hole to take the last available place in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Mid-Amateur championship at Argyle Country Club yesterday.

Dan Falls, from Goshen and River Bend Country Club, earned the medal with a 4-under-par 34-33-67. Three Baltimore area players - David Nocar (68), the State Amateur king from Severna Park; Jim Winner (69), Bel Air; and Keith Janecek (70), Parkton joined Kaestner in being among the eight to advance to The Stanwich Club, Greenwich, Conn., Sept. 21-26.

Kaestner was one of five at 71 who played off for two spots.
