Bowie State rolls in opener, 34-7


CHARLESTON, W. Va. - Quarterback Maurice Hill rushed for two touchdowns yesterday and Bowie State's defense limited West Virginia State to a fourth-quarter touchdown, as the Bulldogs notched a 34-7 victory at Laidley Field in the season opener for both teams.

Hill, a freshman, scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 9-yard run in the second. Sophomore linebacker Atcheson Conway's 69-yard return of a fumble recovery gave Bowie State a 26-0 lead in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs play host to Johnson C. Smith on Saturday.
