Position: Cornerback. Chris McAlister didn't resemble a shutdown corner last week, when he got beat a couple of times by an average group of Eagles receivers. The other starter, Alvin Porter, has struggled mightily in the preseason and was toasted by the Giants last year in the preseason.

Veteran: Right tackle Edwin Mulitalo. The Ravens know they can run behind Mulitalo, but they'll find out how much he has progressed in his pass blocking. Mulitalo has his much-hyped battle with Giants end Michael Strahan, the NFL's reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Rookie: Receiver Travis Taylor. After catching just one pass in each of the first two preseason games, Taylor rebounded with four receptions last week. The Ravens desperately need consistency out of him.

On the bubble: Defensive backs Reggie Waddell, Shawn Byrdsong and Jason Olford. This group is likely battling over one remaining spot on the roster and should play most of the second half together. Waddell and Olford are the backup cornerbacks; Byrdsong mainly covers the slot receiver as the nickel back.

Injury report: Nickel back James Trapp (torn pectoral muscle) and defensive end Tony Weaver (ankle) are not expected to play.
