Man indicted in shooting of boy during gunbattle

A West Baltimore man charged with shooting 10-year-old Tevin Montrel Davis last month was indicted this week on charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault and various handgun violations.

Perry Spain, 19, who was indicted Tuesday, is charged with inadvertently shooting Tevin in the neck during a gunbattle in the 1900 block of W. Fairmount Ave.

Spain moved out of the Fairmount Avenue neighborhood, where he had been living 12 doors from Tevin, after he was released on $35,000 bail. Spain is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 27.

BENFIELD - A three-car accident in the Benfield section of Anne Arundel County closed down northbound lanes of Interstate 97 north of Benfield Boulevard for an hour and a half yesterday evening, state police said.

A car driven by Dirk Foster of Allentown, Pa., struck the back of a car driven by Maurelle Wilkerson of Baltimore about 5:40 p.m. Wilkerson's car then struck another vehicle, which was driven by James Lennox of Anne Arundel County, police said.

Wilkerson and her three children were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and Lennox was taken to North Arundel Hospital. None sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.
