Man accused of robbery try, attempted abduction

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Howard County police say they have arrested a Glen Burnie man on charges of trying to rob a woman Wednesday at The Mall in Columbia parking lot.

Police said Zachary Pully, 23, of the 7900 block of Silentwood Court was charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery, attempted abduction and first- and second-degree assault.

According to police, a man approached a woman who was walking to her car about 9:30 p.m., placed a pellet gun to her hip and told her to get into her car. When she refused, police said, the man demanded her purse but fled before getting it when he saw people walking toward him.

The woman reported the crime to a police officer patrolling the mall, who pursued a suspect into a garage near the Nordstrom store. As the officer got closer, the man jumped off the second floor of the garage.

Police said the man sprained his ankle when he landed and was apprehended by police officers as he tried to limp away.

Pully was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment and was being held yesterday at the Southern District station in lieu of $60,000 bail.
