Detroit took two of three from the Orioles last weekend at Comerica Park, outscoring the Orioles 7-4. There was only one home run in that series, Robert Fick's bases-empty shot off Orioles reliever Rick Bauer in the first game. Things should be higher scoring at Camden Yards, but Sparks is a knuckleball pitcher, and if that pitch is working, he'll be just as dangerous as he was Sunday in Detroit. Powell was a teammate of Orioles pitcher Travis Driskill with Triple-A New Orleans for two seasons before they both emerged this season as effective big-league starters. Powell won 18 games in those two seasons and Driskill won 23, but they were behind a bevy of young pitching prospects -- Roy Oswalt, Wade Miller, Carlos Hernandez, etc. -- in the Houston Astros' organization. Powell held the Orioles to two runs on five hits in seven innings Saturday.
