Position: Free safety. Chad Williams, a sixth-round pick, will start, but he will give way to Ed Reed, the team's first-round pick and projected starter. Williams has been a surprise with his physical presence in run support. But Reed, who lost his job after a nine-day holdout, is more of a ball hawk who will make his plays in coverage.

Veteran: Right tackle Edwin Mulitalo. The longtime left guard struggled with his technique and power last week, when he got beat three times early by Pro Bowl end Robert Porcher. He will be tested tonight against Shaun Ellis and Steve White, who are trying to impress as they compete for the starting end job.

Rookie: Backup running back Chester Taylor. After Jamal Lewis' brief appearance, the Ravens want to take a hard look at Taylor, who will play the rest of the first half. A sixth-round pick, Taylor missed last week's preseason game with an ankle injury. He has impressed the team with his combination of speed and power and could pick up what has been a lackluster running game.

On the bubble: Kicker J.R. Jenkins. The undrafted rookie out of Marshall has a booming leg and is looking to persuade the Ravens to use a roster spot on a kickoff specialist. In the preseason opener, he put all four kickoffs inside the 7-yard line, including one into the end zone.

Injury report: Defensive ends Michael McCrary (knee) and Tony Weaver (ankle), linebackers Peter Boulware (ankle) and Andre Arnold (knee), cornerback Gary Baxter (hamstring) and defensive tackle Josh McKibben (stress fracture) are not expected to play.
