A three-alarm fire in Edgewater yesterday morning destroyed one townhouse and damaged three others, authorities said.

Firefighters responded about 10:20 a.m. to a call to the home in the 3700 block of Westfield Court. The blaze spread to three other houses before 63 firefighters brought the blaze under control in about an hour, said Capt. Lee Cornwell, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Susan Erickson, owner of the townhouse where the fire originated, was not home at the time, Cornwell said.

The cause was under investigation, and the amount of damage has not been determined, the spokesman added.
