Leo Robert Hebert, a retired radio engineer, died of complications from surgery Friday at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. He was 77 and divided his time between homes in Owings Mills and Keytesville, Mo.

He retired in 1986 from Radio Corp. of America's service department, where he installed and repaired two-way radios.

Born in Malone, N.Y., he was raised in Northeast Baltimore and attended Polytechnic Institute. He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Hebert was a member of the Baltimore Amateur Radio Club, the Model Airplane Association and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Owings Mills.

Services were held Monday in Missouri.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Ena Karlieen Scheafer; two sons, Phillip Hebert of Owings Mills and Jon Hebert of Chicago; a daughter, Kathleen Ricks of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Armand Hebert of Shrewsbury, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
