It's the season to talk baseball, so why not read about it as well? This Saturday, America's favorite pastime is the subject of story time at the Babe Ruth Museum. Kids of all ages are invited to learn the love of the game through stories, crafts, music and other activities.

Leading up to story time, kids can make their own team pennants using fabric and markers. Then, there will be a sing-along to ballpark favorites like "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

While kids munch on Cracker Jacks and peanuts, librarians will read from dozens of baseball books for kids of all ages.

Lesley Mason, a children's librarian at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, calls books and baseball the ideal combination for reluctant readers. "Some kids don't think books are cool. This gives them the idea that they are."

In addition, there will be a visit from the Oriole and Raven mascots, who will sign autographs. And kids will be shown how to apply for library cards and check out books.

Baseball story time begins at 10 a.m. at the Babe Ruth Museum, 216 Emory St. The event is free with regular museum admission ($3-$6). Call 410-727-1539.
