Twins update

It has taken this long for the Orioles and Twins to meet. They'll play again next week in Minnesota. Maybe the Twins will cool off by then. They had won five straight before yesterday's loss and are 19-5 since the break. Their 16-game lead in the Central Division is the second-largest margin in the majors. The Atlanta Braves lead the New York Mets by 18 games in the National League East, but nobody's trying to contract them. The Twins rank third in the AL in batting with a .279 average, including .293 against right-handers (best in the majors). The league's best fielding team hadn't made an error in 12 straight games before yesterday. The Twins are unbeaten in their past 13 series, going 10-0-3. David Ortiz has an 18-game hitting streak. Corey Koskie's status is uncertain after he was drilled in the chest by a throw from Royals first baseman Chan Perry in the 10th inning of Sunday's game.
