Betty L. Jones, 77, retail sales associate

Betty L. Jones, a sales associate in retail shops, died Sunday of a heart attack at her Overlea home. She was 77.

Born Betty Love Alexander in Mooresboro, N.C., she was a graduate of Caroleen High School in Caroleen, N.C.

She moved to Baltimore in 1943 and worked in the personnel department of the Bethlehem Fairfield Shipyard. She later did secretarial work at the Smith, Somerville and Case law firm in downtown Baltimore.

For the past 30 years she was a sales associate, first at Harold's in Gardenville, then at Kidsworld in Perry Hall and A Fabric Place in the Lake Falls section of Baltimore County.

She was formerly active in the PTA of the Fullerton and Elmwood elementary schools.

Her husband of 44 years, Frank Butler Jones, died in 1988.

Services were held Thursday.

She is survived by a son, Kirk Jones of Forest Hill; a daughter, Sharon Roberts of Mount Joy, Pa.; a brother, Max Alexander of Caroleen, N.C.; three sisters, Carrie Pearson of Forest City, N.C., Sarah Hamrick of Cliffside, N.C., and Ethel Probst of Alabama and two grandchildren. A son, Michael E. Jones, died in 1967.
