THE BALTIMORE SUN

Howard County police have arrested a 16-year-old Louisville, Ky., resident and charged him with crimes related to an attempted carjacking in Columbia, police said yesterday.

Gerale Isaac Daniels is accused of approaching a woman sitting in her car in the 9100 block of Commerce Center Drive about 5:15 p.m. Sunday and threatening her with a large pin, police said.

The woman's purse was taken, but she got out of her car and escaped as the assailant fled on foot, authorities said.

Police said they found the suspect in the 9000 block of Snowden River Parkway with a piece of jewelry attached to a 3-inch pin.

Daniels was charged with armed robbery, robbery, attempted robbery, and first- and second-degree assault, police said. He was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
