Groups seek nominees for philanthropy award

An awards luncheon honoring Anne Arundel County philanthropy is planned for Nov. 21 at the Radisson Hotel in Annapolis. Community Counseling Service Co. is co-sponsoring the event with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Maryland Chapter, and the Chesapeake Community Foundation. The luncheon will tie in with National Philanthropy Day.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to submit nominations for the Anne Arundel County Philanthropist of the Year Award, which will be presented during the luncheon. The award will go to a person whose generosity has demonstrated outstanding responsibility, and who encourages others in the community to give. Families also are eligible for the award. Nominations should include evidence of direct gift support, description of the impact the gift made, details of how the nominee encourages and motivates other donors, and evidence of support of innovative approaches to problem-solving.

Nomination forms: Carol Thompson, executive director of Chesapeake Community Foundation, 410-268-7245 or chcom munityfdn@juno.com. The deadline for submitting nominations is Sept. 6.
