At-large members sought for school board committee

The Citizens Advisory Committee to the Board of Education is seeking at-large members for the 2002-2003 school year.

The committee serves in an advisory capacity to the elected school board, sponsors educational programming for its members and provides them with opportunities to study and have input into curricula, policy, redistricting and the budget. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the boardroom at the Department of Education, Ellicott City.

At-large members serve two-year terms.

Parks department offering weeklong nature camps

The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is offering one-week nature camps at Centennial and Rockburn Branch parks.

The camps are three to four hours each day.

Junior Ranger Adventure and Explorer Camps for grades four to six will be offered next week. A camp for ages 6 to 9 will begin Aug. 5.
