Blue Jays update
Toronto's four-game winning streak was broken yesterday by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, but the Blue Jays are 8-3 since the All-Star break and look like they still will challenge the Orioles for third place in the American League East. In their first meeting of the season, Toronto swept two games from the Orioles last week at SkyDome, and the Blue Jays will send the same two starting pitchers to the mound in the first two games of this series. Halladay, an All-Star selection, held the Orioles to one run on five hits in Wednesday's 7-1 victory. Carpenter allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings in Thursday's 5-4 win. Toronto pounded both Johnson and Driskill in that series. The Blue Jays are hitting .313 as a team since the break. Toronto third baseman Eric Hinske hit his 17th homer of the season yesterday. He's batting .291 with 54 RBIs.
