Jane Ann Parks, 75, homemaker, volunteer

Jane Ann Parks, a homemaker and volunteer who collected matchbooks, died from complications of emphysema at her Stoneleigh residence. She was 75.

Born and raised Jane Ann Burns in Harlem Park, she was a 1944 graduate of Western High School.

She worked as a secretary for the Whitaker Paper Co. in Baltimore until leaving in 1954 to start her family.

Mrs. Parks volunteered at Stoneleigh Elementary School, Dumbarton Middle School and Towson High School.

She was also an active parishioner at Grace United Methodist Church where she had been a choir mother, chaperoned dance classes and assisted with church correspondence and mailings.

She liked to collect American matchbooks and Christmas ornaments with which she decorated her tree at holiday time.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, 5407 N. Charles St.

Mrs. Parks is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Lindsay Parks, retired president of the Home Mutual Insurance Co.; two daughters, Kate Mullan of Towson and Ann Martin of Timonium; five grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
