Mariners update

The Orioles are 3-4 against the Mariners this season, after dropping two of three at Seattle and splitting a four-game series at Camden Yards. The Mariners, who are in the market for a front-line starting pitcher to complement Freddy Garcia and Jamie Moyer, will finally get to see Ponson after missing him the first two series. Ponson was held back one day (blister). Franklin has replaced Rafael Soriano in the starting rotation, and Pineiro has the lowest ERA in the American League, 2.50. The Orioles will try to contain Mariners leadoff hitter Ichiro Suzuki, who is batting a mere .533 against them, with 16 hits in 30 at-bats. As good as the Mariners looked the last time the Orioles faced them, they didn't even have Edgar Martinez, who has returned from the disabled list and is batting .324 in July.
