THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Home Builders Care Victims' Relief Fund has distributed almost $10 million donated by the homebuilding industry to Sept. 11 victims, according to the National Association of Home Builders.

More than 5,000 members of the homebuilding industry participated. Beazer Homes, Centex Corp., the Lennar Foundation and Pulte Homes each contributed more than $1 million.

"Ultimately, the fund collected almost twice its original goal," said Robert L. Mitchell, a former NAHB president.

Recipients included victims living in the New York metro region, the American Red Cross, United Way's Sept. 11 Fund and volunteer fire departments.
