Two men charged in Hagerstown killing

THE BALTIMORE SUN

HAGERSTOWN - Maryland State Police have arrested two men and charged them with murder in the death of John R. Ward, 87, who was found dead Monday at his home in the 12000 block of Huyetts Lane.

Charged with first-degree murder, burglary, robbery and first-degree assault are Robert Steven Robinson, 42, of the 12000 block of Gateway Ave., Hagerstown, and Otho Wayne Robinson, 47, of the same address.

Police were unsure whether the men, who were arrested Wednesday night, are related.

According to police, Ward was found dead about 6:45 a.m. after his daughter failed to reach him by telephone. Ward had been beaten and stabbed, police said.

Robbery and burglary appear to have been the motive in Ward's killing, police said.
