Mary Jane Macaulay, a retired Anne Arundel County public schools educator, died of cancer Friday at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. She was 75.

Born Mary Jane Shepard in Baltimore and raised in Mount Washington, she was a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School. She attended St. Mary's Female Seminary and earned a bachelor's degree in education from University of Maryland, College Park.

Mrs. Macaulay, formerly of Annapolis, was a special education teacher in Anne Arundel County public schools for 25 years. At the time of her retirement in the 1990s, she was a member of the faculty of Ruth Parker Eason School in Millersville.

She enjoyed travel and visiting Ocean City, and was an avid bridge player.

Her marriage to Ross Macaulay ended in divorce.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at City Lights in the Charlestown Retirement Community, 713 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville.

Mrs. Macaulay is survived by two daughters, Carol Yetter of Kennett Square, Pa. and Laurie R. Tomassoni of Bowie; a brother, Oliver Day Shepard of York, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
