Kneseth Israel group sponsoring a trip to Neil Simon play

The Sisterhood of Congregation Kneseth Israel is sponsoring a trip to see Promises, Promises, a play by Neil Simon, at 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre.

Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Prices are $10 for the show and $16 for dinner and show. Transportation from Kneseth Israel is $5.

Chesapeake Christian to welcome evangelist

Pastor Glen H. Morris and the Chesapeake Christian Center will play host to Evangelist Jay Brookes at 8:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at the center, 7975 Tick Neck Road, Pasadena.

Vacation Bible school in its final day today

Today is the last day of vacation Bible school at the Church of Christ. Class will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today at the church, 2 Eastern St., Fernglen Manor.

This year's theme is "Daily Challenges." Each lesson looks at how some Bible characters dealt with some of their problems and the results. Students will discuss how to apply the lessons to situations they encounter day to day.

There will be classes for ages 2 to adult. No fees or donation will be collected. Registration of new students will take place at 9:45 a.m. each morning of Bible school.

Visitors are welcome to attend any of the sessions.

Galilee Lutheran to hold vacation Bible School

Galilee Lutheran Church will hold its vacation Bible school July 15 to July 19 at the church, 4652 Mountain Road, Pasadena.

This year's program is SonCanyon River Adventure, featuring a river expedition theme for potty-trained preschoolers through sixth-graders.

At SonCanyon, children will discover skills for life from the book of Proverbs, including following God's instructions, choosing friends wisely, making peace, showing respect and other similar themes.

Classes begin at 9 a.m. Parents are invited to visit at 11:40 a.m. during the closing activities. At the conclusion of the week, families are invited to watch the children sing and worship at 10:45 a.m. July 21. A picnic will be held after the service.

Cost is $10 per child and $25 for family of three or more children. Cost includes crafts, snacks, iron-on transfers and a cassette containing the songs the children will learn. Registration: Alberta Ash, 410-437-2277.

Flea market: The Community Church of God will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the church, 305 Fifth Ave., Glen Burnie. The sale will be inside the church. Lunch and baked goods will be available. Information: 410-766-5732.

Biblical cruise: "Amazon Adventure," a vacation Bible school for children ages 4 to 12, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 22-26 at Anchor Baptist Church, 320 W. Pasadena Road. Children will experience a fictional cruise down the Amazon River. The program is free; however, each evening will feature contests in which money will be collected for projects. 410-647-9614.
