Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department will offer advance sale ride tickets for its annual carnival.
The tickets are good for one ride-all-night wristband for July 8, 9 or 10 during the carnival. Tickets purchased at the carnival for ride nights will be $13. Advance tickets cost $7.
Times and dates for advance ticket sales are: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday, Wednesday, and July 5; and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday and July 6 and 7.

Mount Airy library sets story time, book club
The Mount Airy library branch, 705 Ridge Ave., will offer:
"Year-Round Story Time," for all ages at 11 a.m. today, "Things We Wear," and at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday, "Dynamite Dogs."
"Rainbow Fish," for all ages at 11 a.m. July 6. Stories and songs about the fish will be featured.
Mount Airy Book Club for adults will meet at 7 p.m. July 16 and 1 p.m. July 17 to discuss The Bridge by Doug Marlette.

Teen selected to attend leadership conference
Andrew Eisold of Mount Airy has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference next month in Washington. The NYLC is a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and academic achievement.
The theme will be "The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today." Youths will meet leaders and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media and international community.
The program will include a panel discussion with prominent journalists from the National Press Club, meetings with senators and representatives, and leadership activities.
Andrew is the son of Eric and Cathy Eisold of Mount Airy. He will be a junior at South Carroll High School, where he is a scholar athlete.
