Bowie 6, Akron 5, 10 innings: After losing their lead in the eighth inning, the host Baysox broke their seven-game losing streak in the 10th as third baseman Napolean Calzado singled to drive in Scott Hunter.
Single-A Carolina League
Potomac 9, Frederick 2: The host Cannons scored four runs in two different innings to rout the Keys before 2,022.
Juan Mejia (3-3) pitched his second complete game of the season, holding Frederick to two runs on six hits.
Richard Bartlett (3-3) allowed four runs in the first inning and left the game when he rolled his right ankle backing up a play at third base. Bartlett, the Orioles' third-round draft pick in 2000, gave up five hits and recorded only two outs.
Single-A South Atlantic League
Delmarva 6, Hagerstown 2: Kurt Birkins pitched a complete game for the host Shorebirds. The Suns struck first against Birkins (7-5), with two runs on three hits in the first inning, to take a 2-0 lead. Birkins settled down from there and retired the next 10 batters he faced.
Single-A New York-Penn League
Hudson Valley 9, Aberdeen 5: The visiting Renegades scored four unearned runs in the first inning and beat the IronBirds before 6,107 at Ripken Stadium. The Renegades swept the two-game series, as the IronBirds fell two games below .500 (3-5) for the second time this season.
The IronBirds surrendered five runs in the first inning and fell behind 7-1 by the end of the second. In the first inning, IronBirds starter Scott Rice committed an error, balked in a run and gave up six hits, and IronBirds third baseman Bolivar Recio dropped a pop fly.
Aberdeen cut the deficit to 7-5 in the bottom of fifth on a triple by leadoff hitter Pete Shier, a double by Gregg Davies, a single by Mike Huggins and a triple by Mike Russell. Neal Stephenson, who extended his hitting streak to six games with a single in the first, then reached on an error to score Russell.
