Yankees update

The Yankees have moved past Boston into first place in the American League East. They also went into last night's limited schedule with the best record in the majors. Clemens has faced the Orioles three times this season, allowing 13 runs and 19 hits in 18 1/3 innings. Wells also has made three starts against the Orioles, allowing eight runs and 19 hits in 23 1/3 innings. Pettitte has rejoined the rotation after a stint on the disabled list. Ponson is 0-1 with a 5.21 ERA in three starts against the Yankees this year. Erickson held New York to an unearned run over six innings on Opening Day, but the Yankees reached him for 12 earned runs and 18 hits during his next two starts covering 10 innings.
