DiPaula joins Center Club as director of marketing

The Center Club, located in the Legg Mason Tower, announced that Janine DiPaula has joined the staff of the private dining club as director of marketing. Formerly an assistant vice president at Baltimore-based Chambers, the Baltimore resident is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame and received her MBA from Loyola College.

Auction house names Holzman general manager

Mike Holzman has been named general manager of Bel Air-based Atlantic Auctions Inc., a division of BSCAmerica. A former Baltimore resident, Holzman has more than 25 years' experience as owner of Holzman Auctioneers of Sarasota, Fla., and co-owner of Discount Restaurant Equipment of Bradenton, Fla. Holzman has received numerous awards for his auctioneering and advertising expertise, has appeared on national TV as a boxing ring announcer and has qualified as an expert in many bankruptcy matters.

Information technology

Richards named manager at Hunt Valley company

System Source, located in Hunt Valley, appointed Denise Richards as project manager for its Internet services group. She will develop and manage project timelines on Web-site design and implementation. The University of Maryland graduate was formerly a consultant and project manager for Citrix Systems.

Shapiro Sher & Guinot announce new partner

Shapiro Sher & Guinot announced that Paul Mark Sandler, formerly of Freishtat & Sandler, will join the Baltimore-based firm as a partner on Aug. 1.

During his more than three decades of work, Sandler has represented the Baltimore City school board in seeking additional funding for students in city schools and has represented the general counsel of the Democratic National Committee in U.S. Senate hearings on campaign fund raising. He has also written numerous books, including the recently published The Winning Argument.

Ferrise, Musgrave join as principals at Ober/Kaler

Ober/Kaler announced that Anthony J. Ferrise and David S. Musgrave have joined the Baltimore-based law firm as principals.

Ferrise joins the firm's tax practice in its Washington office. He will counsel companies on federal tax aspects of business dealings. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia and earned his LLM from New York University. A resident of Bethesda, he was previously director of tax and planning for CB Richard Ellis.

Musgrave, a former partner with Piper Rudnick, will join Ober/Kaler's creditor's rights, workouts and bankruptcy practice and work in the firm's Baltimore office. A law graduate of the University of Maryland, the Homeland resident is active with the Cherry Hill Elementary School and the Maryland School Performance Assessment Program.

Health care

Howard County hospital appoints administrator

Howard County General Hospital appointed Debbie Fleischmann as administrative director of emergency services. She will be responsible for the administrative functions for emergency and pediatric services. A registered nurse, she also holds a master's degree from the University of Baltimore.

Tourism

Aquarium appoints Ramin top development director

The National Aquarium in Baltimore has appointed Robert A. Ramin as senior director, development. He will supervise all development operations, including giving programs, member services and special events. Formerly a vice president for the African Wildlife Foundation, the Silver Spring resident received a bachelor's degree and MBA from Cornell University and holds a graduate degree in education from the University of Maryland.
