Tenn. man, 55, is accused of trying to kidnap jogging woman

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Baltimore County police have arrested a 55-year-old Tennessee man who they say tried to abduct a female jogger this month.

Larry Edward Clark of the 200 block of Lakeshire Drive in Crossville, Tenn., was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping Friday.

Clark is accused of trying to abduct the woman near Jenifer and Chatterton roads in Timonium on the evening of June 12.

Police said the victim, who was not identified, was running alone in the area when Clark approached her with a pipe and demanded she get in his truck, a dark green Dodge with an American flag on the passenger side mirror.

According to police, the woman escaped when another jogger intervened and provided a description of the man and his car to authorities.

On Thursday, a motorist on Interstate 695 saw a car that matched the description of the vehicle and notified police.

An officer driving near Bloomsbury Avenue and Frederick Road in Catonsville saw the truck, pulled it over, and arrested Clark about 1:30 a.m. Friday, police said.

Clark was being held at the Cockeysville precinct in lieu of $500,000 bail.
