Laurel man charged in assault of 2

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Laurel man has been charged with beating his ex-wife with a golf club and then stabbing her and her mother in their Odenton home, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday.

Placidia Monique Clark, 37, of the 200 block of St. Michaels Circle and her mother, Maria Allen Pugh, 51, of the same address were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the attack Monday night. Clark was in critical condition and Pugh was in serious but stable condition yesterday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

David Clark, 39, of the 14100 block of Bramble Court was pulled over at Route 198 and Laurel Race Track Road by officers who were looking for his Chevrolet Suburban at 10:20 p.m., about 20 minutes after the assault. He was arrested without incident, police said. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and burglary.

According to police charging documents, Clark was beating his former wife with the golf club when her mother tried to intercede. The end of the club broke off, and Clark then stabbed his former mother-in-law and former wife with the broken shaft, according to the documents.

In January, Clark received a restraining order against her husband. Court documents show that David Clark did not object to the order and agreed not to contact his wife. At the time, the couple was seeking an uncontested divorce, according to civil court records filed in Anne Arundel County.
