A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder yesterday in the death of another man during a fight at the victim's Crofton home Saturday evening.

The victim was identified yesterday by Anne Arundel County police as Cleadis Bruce Barnes, 32, of the 1400 block of Defense Highway.

Charged with first-degree murder was Patrick Robert Aldridge, said Officer Mark L. Shawkey, a county police spokesman. He said Aldridge lived in the Crofton area.

Aldridge and Barnes were acquaintances, Shawkey said, adding that detectives believe a past rivalry or altercation led to Saturday's deadly encounter.

Barnes died at the scene as a result of severe injuries to his head and upper torso, Shawkey said.
