Go Baroque:

Academy Band:
The Naval Academy Band will hold its Summer Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the City Dock in Annapolis beginning July 9. The Aug. 13 concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Rain dates and sites may be found at 410-293-0263, by 5 p.m. the date of performance.
Military bands:
The Naval Academy will hold performances of nonmilitary music by military bands at Rip Miller Field: July 18, Army Blues, premier jazz ensemble of the Army; July 25, The Cruisers, Navy's rock ensemble; Aug. 1, Current Country, country music from the Navy Band; and Aug. 8, Electric Brigade, Top 40 and rhythm and blues from the Naval Academy Band. Shows are at 7:30 p.m.
Coffeehouse:
Relative Sight, the acoustic duo of Janet Taggart and Heidi Palalay, will perform June 21 at the 333 Coffeehouse. Taggart (lead vocals, cello, piano and guitar) and Palalay (guitar, oboe, piano and harmony vocals) - who discovered a common interest in pop tunes as freshman roommates at the Peabody Conservatory of Music - recorded their first CD this year. Also headlining the program is Gina Holsopple, a New York-based singer and songwriter who has produced three CDs. Percussionist Brian McQuade and songster Bill Coniff, both of Baltimore, will make cameo appearances. Music begins at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. Admission to the nonprofit coffeehouse is $10, and $8 for students and seniors, with a portion of the proceeds supporting charitable causes.

Creative summer:
The Chesapeake Center for the Creative Arts will offer a series of summer courses with day and evening sessions. Classes begin the week of July 8 and run through Aug. 29. The summer schedule includes classes in dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and social dance, and theater includes monologue study, improvisation, scene study, stage combat, storybook make-believe, theater craft and fundamentals of acting. Blooming art:
Main Street Gallery will present In Full Bloom, a group show featuring four artists with different styles, through July 7 at the gallery, 109 Main St., in Annapolis. The four artists are: Janice Antinucco, an impressionist who creates landscapes and florals in colored oils with a palette knife; Michael Seward, a master furniture maker who designs pieces in hardwood; Merla Tootle, whose flowing watercolors depict floral motifs; and Linda Volrath, who creates realistic florals in oil. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays. Painters in Annapolis:
On Sept. 21, 17 regional landscape painters will visit Annapolis to paint the downtown area, including Maryland Avenue, the City Dock and Main Street. These painters, members of the newly formed Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, invite the public to watch the paintings develop. Free maps will be distributed so the public can follow along throughout the day. A reception will be held at the end of the day at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Cruises
Pyrate Cruise:
First Night Annapolis will offer a Pyrate Cruise on the Chesapeake with the Pyrates Royale aboard the Harbor Queen from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. July 18 in Annapolis. The Pyrates Royale is a musical group that performs sea chanteys, tavern songs and folk tunes from the British Isles and the Americas. Boating:
Coast Guard Station Annapolis will hold an open house and boating safety demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Point location. Participants will include the crew of Coast Guard Station Annapolis, a Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City, and members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and state, county, city police, fire and rescue crews.
