Police believe man found dead at home likely knew killers
A postal worker found dead in his bathtub, his body bound and shot, likely knew his killers, city police said yesterday, although they had no suspect and knew of no motive for the slaying Monday.
Homicide Detective Roscoe Lewis said the killing of Bernard Martin, 33, of the 3500 block of Rosekemp Ave. was committed by more than one person. "Since there was no forced entry, we believe the victim knew his assailants," Lewis said, adding that no property was reported missing.
"Whoever killed Mr. Martin," Lewis said, "did it for some other reason than during a robbery." He said Martin worked the nightshift at the Cockeysville post office.
Martin's body was found partially submerged in the tub about 5 p.m. Monday by his 7-year-old son, when he returned from the home of his after-school sitter.

Lakewood Ave., was shot about 2 a.m. after leaving Emineo's, a nightclub in the first block of S. Calvert St. Dana Dewight McCullough, 30, of the 4500 block of Marx Ave., was found shot to death about 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Ashland Ave.
13th anti-violence event announced at courthouse
A group of politicians, religious leaders and tearful parents who lost their children to violence stood on the steps of the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse last night to protest Baltimore crime and to announce the 13th annual "Love Hands Across Baltimore."
The event encourages people to join hands to form a human chain as a symbol against violence. Many in the group were wearing T-shirts that said "Remembering Rio-Jarell Tatum," in reference to the 19-year-old college student who was fatally shot outside a downtown nightclub last month.
Also at last night's rally were State's Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy, who is running for re-election this year, and Councilwoman Lisa Joi Stancil, who is also vying for the job. Love Hands Across Baltimore, sponsored by the Rev. Willie Ray and the Monumental Bar Association, will be at 2 p.m. June 29 outside the city's Board of Education headquarters at 200 E. North Ave.
