Work on I-95 bridge to affect traffic

THE BALTIMORE SUN

State Highway Administration work crews will continue closing lanes and shifting traffic on Interstate 95 at the Howard-Prince George's County line as they work on the bridge that carries that highway over the Patuxent River.

This week, travel lanes will be shifted to the right along southbound I-95 over the river, according to the SHA. Work was expected to begin last night. Starting Monday, traffic will be shifted on northbound I-95 so work can begin on the center of the road.

People driving through the work area can expect single-lane closures starting at 7 p.m. and double-lane closures between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

All lanes in one direction will be closed for brief periods between midnight and 5 a.m. as workers set up cones and concrete barriers.

The construction is part of a $6.8 million bridge-improvement project in Howard and Prince George's counties.

Work is expected to be complete in the fall.
