Bladensburg boater's body found near Deale

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The body of a 24-year-old man whose boat capsized in the Chesapeake Bay this week surfaced yesterday near Deale, authorities said.

Gregory Whitaker of Bladensburg had been missing since Sunday after he and four others set sail from Fishing Creek in Calvert County in a 16-foot fishing boat. The boat capsized off Chesapeake Beach.

Whitaker's 7-year-old stepdaughter, Lauryn Greenhill, remains missing, Maryland Natural Resources Police said yesterday.

A 43-year-old Hyattsville man and his 12- and 14-year-old daughters who were also on the boat were rescued after the accident by a passing charter boat.

Whitaker's body was discovered under a private pier in Rest Haven, about eight miles north of the accident scene, according to DNR police.
